Hello Sunday!

18 Nov

We’ve had a long few weeks and yesterday my little one was flipped out already only moments after she awakened.

I still find her adorable though, even when she tantrums!
Don’t you ever feel like pouncing on the kitchen floor!?!?

When A 5 Year Old Tantrums

1 Sep

Tantrums are one of my favorite things to write about. Even though my youngest child is 5 years old they still happen in this house.

Today my daughter got enraged when she was banished to her room because she sucker punched her brother in the stomach. She retaliated by attempting to destroy her room and it’s contents. The bed seemed to be hit especially hard as she stripped it.

Kindergarten here she comes! :)

Driveway Tantrum

26 Jun

Aw she’s so cute…even when she’s having a tantrum on the driveway. And she’s no stranger to tantrums…in the store, in the car or on the floor!

Moving Vehicle Tantrum

Going back to school after vacation always makes for a long, hard week.

My guys are exhausted and very cranky.

How about yours?

It’s The Most Tantrumy Time of the Year…

21 Dec

Not a wonderful time of the year over here. :)

Tea and Tantrum

20 Dec

I just can’t get over the fact that my kids like tea!  This was them last night in my bed watching a last bedtime program (it was Caillou in case you’re interested).  It’s only chamomile (in case any of you think I am giving them caffeinated beverages) which I happen to buy in bulk because I drink it every night before bed.  But I didn’t acquire a taste for tea until my 20’s!

There’s something so soothing about a nice cup of chamomile tea and there are many health benefits. Here are some:

  • Insomnia and other sleep disorders
  • Anxiety and Panic Attacks
  • Muscle twitches
  • Wounds, burns, and scrapes
  • Skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, chickenpox, and diaper rash
  • Stomach problems such as menstrual cramps, stomach flu, and ulcers

The calm tea drinking moment was a nice end to a day that began like this.

Do your children drink tea or coffee?

Friday Wrap Up

27 Aug

I still can’t get over some of the things that are coming out of my children’s mouths.

Some are really cute…

Hey look mommy I see Barnes & Elbows!

Is that a freckle or a birdmark?

How do flies get in the house?  How do they open the door?

Some are insulting like when my son told me…

I wanna throw you out of the Earth!

Some make me look like a bad parent like when I was talking with my neighbor and my son rode by on his bike shouting…

Hey there fatsos!

Some are so innocent, like when the little one said…

All the ladies want to take my curls.

(What ladies?)

The ladies that are old.

They continue to amaze me by identifying cars…

Chubby lay

(that’s a Chevrolet)

You know there’s a lot of tantrums and long days here, but I wouldn’t have it any other way :)

Have a great weekend and get ready for giveaways!

(and this is what I found one night on my precious bed…unposed…I kid you not!)

The Poor Child…

25 Aug

He can’t even have a good old face in the kitchen floor tantrum without his crazy mom snapping a picture!

Okay Seriously, How Do You Vacation with Kids?

2 Jun

Most of my friends take 2 or 3 vacations a year, jetting off to Disney or wherever with their kids.  When they come back they look great and rave about the fun times.

Well we are not big vacationers, and we moved earlier this year so it’s been busy, but a few weeks ago we decided to go for it and travel to Florida for sun and beach at my in-laws lovely place.  We figured it would be great, just veg at the pool or beach (right outside the building) all day and wipe the kids out so they get that good ocean sleep.

We were gone a week, and this is basically the face I saw x3 every day.

I mean we truly had the most amazing sunny weather, a beautiful pool and lovely mostly private beach, but these kids found something to bitch and complain about every minute.  My in laws went out of their way to make everything comfy and wonderful for us and in return they were bombarded by whining and tantrums and noise starting at 5:30 a.m and going until 10 p.m.

We watched the sunrise almost everyday.

And this one was amazing.

That was our view…so beautiful.

My husband and I are deliriously exhausted from our vacation.  I know my in-laws think we are the worst parents ever as the kids were completely out of control.  The problem was that all 3 of them shared a room and they just kept each other up all night which resulted in them being sleep deprived which led to biting and tantrums and such.

How do families all stay together in one room at a hotel or something and get any sleep?

Nonetheless, I did get some great pictures (I’ll post some later) and I know we made good memories for the kids.

The beach happens to be my favorite place in the world so I was deeply appreciative to snatch some quiet moments to myself outside.

I just wonder what we are doing wrong, or maybe I just need to remind myself that traveling with a 4-year-old, 4-year-old and 3-year-old is no easy task for anyone!

Is Today Thursday and Kindergarten Orientation

20 May

Seriously I have had to look at my Blackberry 23 times today, not to find out the date, but to figure out the DAY.  I’m deliriously exhausted and all drugged out on allergy pills.  I get manically tired where I am over tired but buzzing around with nervous energy (party on Sat = why I am buzzing).

And then, the kids were wickedly bad today.  Like awful.  All day.

While there are many benefits, having kids so close in age presents challenges.

They fight.

All. the. time.

We’re going through a hitting, biting and calling each other stupid phase.

But today was special as we had to go to kindergarten orientation at the twins’ school.

There was a parent one last month and today the kids got to see a classroom.  At both orientations, the lovely principal, at one point in her talk, said “we’ll take your kids just as they are and love them for who they are” or something like that.  Both times, I got choked up and if I even talk about it I still get choked up!

I was delighted when the twins walked off, with no problem, with a teacher and other kids to investigate a classroom.  There was another set of  twins wailing and refusing to go.  Every parent in that room was thinking how glad they were that it wasn’t her kids.

But then we went to the park and little one had a tantrum.  She took off her shoes and her diaper and proceeded to run around lifting up her dress.  Then she went down the slide with legs spread wide open so I figured that was a good time for me to intervene.

I was trying to restrain her on my lap and I knew I was getting the ‘looks’.  You know what I mean.  When the other moms look over at you and your bratty kid and you feel like you’re an abuser and an all around crap mom.  I put her in the car for a time out and luckily she chilled so we spent almost 3 hours in the park enjoying the beautiful weather.

I threw them all in bed just a little while ago at 7:30.  The little one is yelling out her usual nightly declaration from her bed,

I’m tired!

You know I am too!

How do you manage public tantrums?
