The Limited Store Preview AND $100 Giveaway…ENTER TO WIN! (CLOSED–winner chosen)

A few weeks ago I attended the opening of  The Limited’s flagship store in Roosevelt Field Mall.  Bloggers were invited to hear about the complete redesign of the store which will be emulated in all the other Limited stores.

As I walked around the store I thought about how many years ago I first became a Limited shopper…it was in high school and let’s just say that was OVER 20 years ago…yikes!

The store is a lot smaller than I remember.  This is intentional as the idea is to make the shopping experience more intimate and homey…sort of like imaging yourself in your own giant, beautiful closet of your dreams!

New to the store is an accessories section of which we all gravitated.   Now you can pick out your clothes and complete the outfit with jewelry and shoes…nice!

But the coolest part of the store visit was the dressing room.  Each dressing room is outfitted with a button.

When you need assistance you just press your button and not only does it light up on the outside, but the staff covering the dressing room gets alerted in an earpiece that help is needed!!!  If multiple customers need help the staff can tell by the blinking light who “rang” first!  I don’t know about you, but my dressing room visits in other stores are usually lonely (no staff to be found) and gross with clothes everywhere.  The Limited keeps the tried on clothes behind a curtain as another way maintaining a relaxing ambiance in the store.

UGG® Australia Kid’s Shoe Review and Giveaway — ENTER TO WIN

My little man has some awesome new footwear, the UGG Australia Kid’s Halfhitch Boat Shoes.

I received a sample of Certain Dri antiperspirant and promptly tossed it my husband’s way.  He is an excessive sweater and has been known to purposefully lift up his arms at parties to show off his sweat stains.  (I wish I were kidding.) Züpers Leggings Review and Giveaway — ENTER TO WIN

I have 3 little ones.  They fall down constantly, especially my 3-year-old.  We go through dozens of pairs of tights.  Just yesterday she fell down while trick or treating and her brand new clean tights were shredded.  So this is why I was intrigued when I heard about Züpers Leggings.

BABIES Screening Party and DVD Giveaway…Enter to Win! (CLOSED)

I was invited to an exclusive screening party celebrating Universal’s new DVD and Blu-ray Babies at Bellini’s baby boutique in my old neighborhood on the upper east side of NYC.  Babies is a wonderful documentary that looks at one year in the life of four babies from around the world, from Mongolia to Namibia to San Francisco to Tokyo.

While the movie played I got a chance to socialize with other bloggers and check out all the great stuff at Bellini.  Back in the day, I lived just 3 blocks away from Bellini; I’ve walked by the store thousands of times but never walked in, until this great event.  There are so many fabulous baby things to look at, and I really, really wanted this picture for my bunny loving baby girl:

Between the movie, all the great baby stuff, and the food, I didn’t know where to start!

The critically acclaimed Babies just came out on DVD and it features four babies from four corners of the world:  first in Africa, then Mongolia, then Tokyo and finally San Francisco, and it’s all done without narration.  It opens with birth preparations, delivery environments, and the way that different cultures welcome new life, giving the viewer rare glimpses of a beginning. It moves into the developing personalities of the respective babies, who are, in order of on-screen introduction: Ponijao, who lives with her family near Opuwo, Namibia; Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani; Mari, who lives with her family in Tokyo, Japan; and Hattie, who resides with her family in the United States, in San Francisco.

The film is an excellent cross cultural adventure portraying the varied ways to raise babies, and perhaps leads to a questioning of  the certain cultural assumptions we possess about parenting.  It doesn’t give any cultural context or explanations for the different behaviors. We don’t learn very much about the parents at all.

Babies happily captures on film the earliest stages of the journey of  life that are both unique and universal to all of us. It is these differences, or small moments of differences, that make this film interesting. Being a baby is universal but there are so many variations in the experience.
