Now that I read mostly on my Kindle I don’t frequent the library as much for myself. But I still love taking the kids when they express an interest in something. I love reading and I am trying to foster it in them. Last year we actually ended up in our community newspaper’s article about summer reading at the library! (I had no idea we were being photographed.)
Today they took out books on princesses, Little House on the Prairie (daughters new fav) and Star Wars of course.
Then they all went to a yoga program for kids being offered. It gave me 45 minutes to chat with my friend while we waited which was wonderful!
The kids programs at the library are just fabulous. Do you ever take advantage of them?
Today we gathered with my mom for a birthday dinner in her honor. We had some pretty fabulous Italian food. My mom was so happy that I accused of being drunk
My parents have had some pretty significant losses of family and friends in the recent years. My father told me he is one of only two living members left in his fraternity. I get the sense that my mother really appreciated her birthday today and it’s a reminder really that every day is a gift.
But unfortunately my mom had about zero chance of blowing out her own birthday candle!
Last night my husband and I went out to dinner without the kids. It had been so long and I was looking forward to it all week. I went to four kick boxing classes and felt I deserved to indulge! We went to a nearby Portuguese restaurant. We like Portugeuse food (and happen to live near a town with a large Portugeuse population) but we chose the restaurant more for the drink than the food. We love love love sangria! Today however it doesn’t love me!
Do you ever go to a restaurant for reasons other than the food?
Then we went to our town pool for a couple of hours before we got rained out.
And I wonder why I’m tired all the time
(Can’t believe my babies are second graders now!!!!)
I can barely recognize myself these days with my craftiness!!!
First it was the rainbow cupcake cake, and now these awesome teachers’ gifts.
I saw the idea on this blog.
I went to Michael’s and bought several jars for each of the kids teachers. I filled each with a bag of M&Ms attached a poem:
Green is for the inspiration you give me each day.
Blue is for your patience in showing me the way.
Orange is for your warmth and caring style.
Yellow is for the way you always make me smile.
Red is for my life that you have touched this year.
You’re a very special teacher just like this jar, that’s clear.
You place knowledge in our children’s hands
and melt into their hearts and lives forever.
You’re a “Magnificent” & “Marvelous” teacher
Thank you for being my M&M.
I had each of my kids sign the note and attached it with rainbow lanyard. It’s a great holder for a gift card too!
To be honest I’m still a little frustrate about teacher’s gifts but this is one is pretty sweet.
And tomorrow is the last day of school
Oh how I love the summer.
Sure it was over 100 degrees today but you won’t hear me complaining about the heat! I love when it’s 8:30 p.m. and still light out. I love short sleeves. I love feeling warm. I love the beach! I love it so much that I picked up the twins early from school today for a beach outing. (it’s their last week of school and every day is early dismissal at this point anyway!)
We went with my parents. I’ve mentioned that they moved to NY a couple of months ago. They are just loving how close they live to the beach and have been dying to get there with the kids.
My parents have endless energy so it turned out to be such a great time. And it made me very happy there was one adult for each kid because I am usually outnumbered and it’s a little scary still with the kids and the ocean.
I took my parents back to their place and we all went for a swim in their pool which was a great way to clean off the 20 pounds of sand stuck to the kids.
Maybe it was the large dose of Vitamin D i got today, but I was revved up for kickboxing this evening despite the continued 100 degree weather into the night! While I was there the kids played in the street until almost 9!
We all ended the day sweaty and happy. Who else is with me on summer being the best season!!!?
Monday was field day for the twins. My daughter’s class was yellow and my son’s class blue. Parents were encouraged to dress in their child’s color. So what’s a mom of twins to do? Dress in a blue tank top and yellow shirt…of course!
The kids had a fun time competing in the games.
And naturally the little one was off and doing her own thing. which involved rainbows of course!
I tried to really appreciate the moment. Especially when I found myself remembering last year’s field day…my daughter had broken her arm the day before!
Sadly I can barely remember my own school field days…do you remember yours?
The kids all gathered in my sons bed tonight and took turns reading books to one another. It was so cute. You know I just love when they have love moments!
